if music be the love of food, and assorted confused meanderings.

so i'll have you know that i did step foot inside the 100 club. Twice in fact. once after class to see if the box office was open, only to be told that tickets would be sold at the door. so i tried to get tickets online, only to have the site tell me to call the ticketing company, who told me to get tickets at the door. so after class, i headed there, but of course - there weren't any tickets available. bah.

didn't particularly want to push or reason with the girl manning the booth (unlike what i did at the starsailor gig, where i had to engage in a 5 min conversation on why i should be allowed to bring in my nalgene water bottle). so instead i walked to HMV and spent 14 quid - the same price of a ticket - on an arcade fire EP, the empire records DVD, an el presidente single, and this 7".

today was CD buying day. i made my way to berwick street and found sister ray records and music exchange, next to each other (yes, finally). and i am not buying any more CD's. really.

you can't let me into a CD shop or bookstore without me buying something. yesterday i decided to wander up holborn instead of heading back straight to my hall. after realising it was mainly offices, i spotted books etc. and went in. so i got three books plus this.


bite-sized trivia pursuit on the go! my dear friends, it's time to bust out the trivia games okay?

i invited my american friend for lunch today at belgo's. everyone who's been to london or stayed there has always told me about belgo's mussels, and i've never been there, so i thought i should at least try this time. didn't want to head to the centraal main restaurant as my friend had a class at 2pm, so we went to the bierodrome along Kingsway instead.


after almost an hour of waiting, we got our main course. here' s my roast chicken in red wine sauce and mushrooms. we had two bowlfuls of frites along the way as well (didn't realise the lunch express set came with fries). the meat was nicely done and all, and it was quite good, but let's say service isn't exactly the best. the hoegaarten made things bearable. =)

and so i walk back to my room after aborted attempt to see Ed Harcourt, and head straight to the kitchen. i find a knife and go to work cutting up vegetables and the pepper i bought earlier today. my russian neighbour wanders in and asks me about chinese medicine. she's a little scary i tell you - every time she pops in she goes "hello it's me again" in her thick accent and waves. she gets the impression that i can actually cook - and tells me i'm a "true woman", which is quite hilarious really, because i sort of throw things together to feed myself.

and ta-dah, here's today's dinner. carrots, baby corn, those flat green pea thingies, mushrooms, red pepper, stir fried. i did a side omelette as well (which had most of the ingredients mentioned, hoho).

i'm going to miss all this when i head home.
