day out

i went to cambridge today with the alumni folks, hurrah. it was a gorgeous summer day, and spending it in the company of friends was the best. clockwise (L-R) (1) sheep footstools that Y wanted to buy at market square. serious. =P the one on the top left is called gandalf, the one on the top right is cruella de sheep, and sean is at bottom right. (2) trinity hall, where my friend Doug is a member. (3) here we all are, at the Little Tea Room. "very National Trust", as Doug put it. another friend Calvin is hidden behind Y. (4) here we have L & M in front of the bridge of sighs along the River Cam. M is playing with the water, mummy had told him he could only dip his hand in, but by the time we got here, his sleeve was rolled up...

we got back to london slightly after 7pm. i was supposed to head to a gig (yesh...) at somerset house so i went back to my room first, before taking a walk down. unfortunately i got there only to find that it got rescheduled, grrrrr. but i guess it was good in a way; i wasn't too keen on going, so now i just need to somehow get a refund back on the credit card.

and i ended up taking a little walk back via welling street, meandering past mostly closed shop fronts near covent garden, before finding Paul open! i treated myself to a chocolate eclair and some macaroons. you see, i had a cold wensleydale cheese and carrot chutney sandwich from M&S for dinner. Y pointed out to me that it was Wallace - in Wallace & Gromit - who loved wensleydale cheese. Y & P refused to let me have a plain tuna and cucumber sandwich, so i chose something more ... english.

i walked back carting my patisserie purchases, and took the route via Endell street. i was standing at a particular corner the other day thinking how pretty the clouds looked - but i couldn't find the spot today. in any case, the left pic is of said street. today's sunset out my window was quite nice i must say.

and to the right are said macaroons. i wanted to share them, so tried knocking on the doors of my flatmates when i got back, but no one was in. so i ate two and munched my way through the eclair. said eclair was very good but extremely filling. (i need to go walk more, argh). later realised i had been knocking on the wrong door vis-a-vis my taiwanese neighbour, so tried again and found her busy studying for her course, and the GMAT. (i confess i am positively lazy in comparison - i haven't done any reading today.) we chatted for abit and i made her eat two of them macaroons =) and i found out from her that i have a fourth flatmate - who in fact lives next door to me. I was wondering who the blonde woman who walked by me today was, and NOW I KNOW.

i'm on my last week in london now.
